Marijuana can be addictive for some people. While marijuana is often thought of as a “soft” drug with few negative consequences, research has shown that long-term marijuana use can lead to addiction in some individuals. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), about 1 in every 11 marijuana users will become addicted, and this number increases to 1 in 6 among those who start using marijuana in their teens. It is important to note that marijuana can also have some potential health benefits. For example, some studies have suggested that marijuana may be helpful in managing certain medical conditions, such as chronic pain or epilepsy. However, marijuana can also have harmful effects on the brain, especially in people who use it heavily or who start using it at a young age. Some research has suggested that heavy marijuana use may impair memory and cognitive function, and it may also increase the risk of mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression. Overall, marijuana can have both potential benefits and potential risks, and it is important to carefully consider these factors when deciding whether or not to use marijuana. If you or a loved one is struggling with marijuana, use or addiction, it is important to seek help from a qualified healthcare professional or addiction specialist.

Detox FAQs

At Resurgence Recovery Centre, we offer comprehensive detox services for individuals struggling with addiction to various substances. Our detox programs are customised to meet the unique needs of each patient, considering their specific addiction, their body and metabolism, and their individual circumstances. We provide around-the-clock access to medical, nursing, and addiction specialist support to ensure that patients have the care and support they need during the detox process. By providing personalised detox services, we aim to help patients overcome their addiction and begin the journey towards lasting recovery.

If you are struggling with substance abuse, our detox program can provide a safe and supportive environment to help you overcome your addiction. The process of detoxing from drugs or alcohol can be challenging, but it is an important first step in breaking the cycle of addiction and starting on the path towards recovery. Detox can have several physical and emotional health benefits, including: Improved physical health: Substance abuse can take a toll on your body, and detoxing can help you start to repair the damage caused by addiction. Depending on the substance you were using, you may experience improved sleep, better appetite, and reduced risk of diseases like liver damage or HIV/AIDS. Enhanced emotional well-being: Substance abuse can also affect your mental health, and detoxing can help you begin to address any underlying mental health issues that may have contributed to your addiction. You may experience improved mood, reduced anxiety and depression, and increased self-esteem as you start to feel more in control of your life. By participating in a detox program, you can take the first steps towards lasting recovery and the many physical and emotional health benefits that come with it.

At Resurgence Recovery Centre, patients typically spend 3-7 days in our detox programs before moving on to more comprehensive residential inpatient treatment. However, there are several factors that can affect the length of time a patient spends in detox, including: Types of substances used: Different substances can have different effects on the body and the detox process. For example, some substances may be more addictive or more difficult to detox from than others. Duration and frequency of use: The longer someone has been using a substance, and the more frequently they have used it, the more intense the detox process may be. Quantity of substance used: The amount of substance someone has been using can also impact the detox process. Generally, the more someone has been using, the more intense the detox may be. Individual factors: Each person is unique and may have different physical and emotional responses to detox. Some people may experience more intense withdrawal symptoms, while others may have a smoother detox process. Overall, the length of time someone spends in a detox program will depend on their individual circumstances and needs. It is important to work with a team of healthcare professionals to determine the best course of treatment for each patient.

Upon completing a detox program, it is common for clients to transition to a residential or partial hospitalisation treatment program. These programs provide a more intensive level of care and support to help individuals maintain their sobriety and continue on the path towards recovery. We recommend that clients participate in one of these programs after completing a medical detox to help ensure long-term sobriety. These programs can include a range of therapeutic and educational activities, such as individual and group therapy, support groups, and skills-building workshops, all of which are designed to help clients develop the tools and strategies they need to maintain their recovery and build a healthy, substance-free lifestyle.
